Product information “Wilderer tankard 5 l underglaze decoration, ZD”

Poacher beer mug 5 liters (!) Height approx. 62 cm (!)

A historical scene is shown in which a poacher was caught.

A hunter has a firm grip on him by the ear. The poorly dressed poacher holds the hare he has caught in one hand. With the other hand, he grabs his aching ear. The hunter on the right seems to want to confront the poacher.

The motif was modeled with great effort and attention to detail. In order to emphasize the beauty of the relief, various spot colors were deliberately omitted and the decoration was carried out using a brown underglaze wiping technique. The background color is cobalt blue.

Two inscription bands run around the jug.

The one at the top reads: “With beer and wine, hunter’s tales thrive” and the pedestal reads “Forest, game and hunting – nothing beats these three.

The modeller has probably immortalized himself with the initials “K.B.” on the side of the relief.

The heavy, richly ornamented pewter lid continues the tall, slender jug shape.

The jug was probably made around 1960-1970.
