Product information “Patronae Bavariae hand-painted, 2 liters, 45 cm”
Patronae Bavariae jug
With this name, the Virgin Mary is venerated as the patron saint of Bavaria.
St. Mary has been venerated since the earliest times. Since 1916, Mary has been formally appointed as the patron saint of Bavaria by Pope Benedict XV.
Mary, “Queen of Bavaria”, is depicted on this jug as the Madonna and Child Jesus in relief with elaborate hand-painting.
The crown and parts of the relief ornaments were painted with gold and baked at approx. 560°C.
The whole thing is rounded off with the pious plea “Protect us and our country”.
The Madonna motif fits perfectly on the tall, slender shape of the jug.
The lid made of real pewter completes the value of this special jug.
