Limität 2021 Father Rhine & Mother Moselle beer mug, painted

Our 2021 annual limited edition is a replica of a jug modeled around 1898 in the Westerwald. The original can be found in the King-Werke archive in Höhr-Grenzhausen.

The romantic rivers Rhine and Moselle are of great importance in German mythology. They are also depicted as a married couple (father Rhine and mother Moselle) and their tributaries as their children.

The Rhine and Moselle flow together at the “Deutsches Eck” in Koblenz. A monumental memorial to Kaiser Wilhelm I of Prussia was erected here in 1897. This is depicted figuratively on the jug.

The jug is topped with a Reinhinn facetted lid.

It is the twenty-first jug in the KING limited series with a strict edition of only 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each jug is numbered consecutively by hand.

This version is the so-called “Cobalt” version: A cobalt-blue background in underglaze was applied. The relief appears more colorful and shiny compared to the Rustica version. There is no “better” of the two versions – personal taste is the deciding factor here. If you prefer the shiny “Rustica” version, please order the other jug # 2051-E.
