Product information “Limität 2020 Tyrolean folk heroes, beer mug, stone gray”

Our 2020 annual limited edition was created to commemorate the Tyrolean uprising of 1809 against the Napoleonic forces.

The uprising was led by Andreas Hofer, a sniper and militia leader.

Even today, he is still revered as a freedom fighter and Tyrolean patriot in Germany and Austria.

The motifs were taken from the famous Tyrolean painter Franz von Defregger: Andres Hofer letzter Gang shows a farewell scene from his Tyrolean followers until the day of his execution by French troops (20.02.1810). It is said that he refused to kneel and that he was blindfolded and instead gave the order to fire himself. The central motif, “Das Letzte Aufgebot”, shows the remaining freedom fighters marching out for the decisive battle against the Napoleonic troops. “The Tharerwirt” (right-hand scene) shows the arrest of Peter Sigmair, another important leader, who gave himself up to the French when they threatened to shoot his blind father. Sigmair was executed on January 14, 1810. This limited edition work of art is crowned by a richly ornamented lid made of real pewter from four molds. The original model mold was developed by master modeler Wilhelm Kamp around 1899 and is now reproduced by King-Werk.

Limited to 2,050 pieces worldwide.

Each jug is individually and consecutively numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Content: 2 liters

Height: approx. 38 cm.

This variant is the so-called Rustica version, which was decorated almost exclusively with underglaze colors. This jug is less colorfully painted so that the details of the relief stand out more clearly than in the so-called cobalt version. There is no “better” of the two variants – personal taste is the deciding factor here. If you prefer the shiny “Rustika” version, please order the other jug # 2050-B.
