Product information “Gambrinus jug 3/4 ltr, stone gray, Thewalt 1893”

This Thewalt 1893 tankard pays homage to Gambrinus, who is sitting comfortably in royal robes next to a beer barrel, holding a goblet of foaming beer in his right hand and a sceptre in his left. He is framed by medieval pillars as he gives you a friendly toast. The hop cones and leaves in the upper relief band are a fitting motif to remind us of the art of brewing, while the mug is framed at the bottom by a lion and beer mug motif to remind us of Gambrinus’ royal origins with a “wink”. A pointed lid made from real pewter crowns this beautiful piece of craftsmanship. A quatrain in old German script has been worked into the shape of the jug to the right and left of the Gambrinus: Gambrinus I am called, King of Flanders and Brabant. I made malt from barley and first invented beer So the brewers can proudly declare that it was a king who invented beer This mug was made in so-called stone gray. No colored overglaze painting was used so that the relief appears as high as possible and the mug is also reminiscent of the very early style of mugs. This edition is limited to 2,500 pieces worldwide. The jugs are numbered consecutively and come with a certificate of authenticity.
