8-day Cuckoo Clock Schwarzwaldhof Holzhacker VDS awarded silver medal

Model number: 5.8860.01.P new

Dimensions: 44cm high, 47cm wide, 29cm deep, (measured from the highest point on the roof to the lowest point on the console); with 3 x 1260g weights,

In many respects, this clock is one of the most detailed replicas of a Black Forest farm in our clock range. The projecting roof with the large balcony on the second floor is very characteristic of such a building.
The farms in the Black Forest, with their often huge roof areas, had to provide as much storage space as possible for straw and fodder to feed the cattle over the long winter. The space directly under the gable was also used for this purpose. The balcony on the second floor therefore also had a load-bearing function in order to make the space above it usable at all. As can also be seen in this clock, the front of the building was then pulled forward over the balcony.
In the case of a Cuckoo Clock, this requires a very special construction of the cuckoo, which must be designed in such a way that it bridges the additional distance to the front of the clock. This model and its construction are unique among Cuckoo Clocks.
Other typical details are the outbuildings on the sides and the mill wheel.
The mill wheel turns only as the music plays, and the wood chopper also moves, raising his arm with the axe as if he were splitting the wood. The dancing figures on the upper balcony also turn with the music. All figures and decorative elements are made of wood and hand-painted.
Clocks decorated all around. An eye-catcher from every angle!
The clock is completely shingled by hand.

In addition to the sister model 5.8860.01P: the stork’s nest with stork on the chimney is not entirely untypical for the Black Forest. The clock is given special depth by the huge fir trees in the background of the clock.
