This is a particularly large and luxuriously decorated Cuckoo Clock. This clock depicts a Black Forest farm in all its size and diversity. Various aspects of such a farm are taken up by the design of the clock.The design of the clock itself reflects the Black Forest farms that have often been built over generations; which often consist of a main building and many extensions, just like this clock. The mill wheel can also be found on many farms, as a source of power for wood or grain processing.The clock carrier on this clock is a particularly typical Black Forest element. Many Black Forest farmers had plenty of time during the long winters and carved clocks. The clock carrier would collect them in the spring and carry them on his back throughout Germany and neighboring countries to sell. This is how the clock industry in the Black Forest came into being in the first place.
The mill wheel on the left-hand side of the clock turns with the music playing, as do the dancing figures on the balcony.
