Christmas jug “12 days until Christmas”

This jug features hand-painted relief images of the twelve gifts that the “Twelve Days of Christmas” is a cumulative song where each verse builds on the previous one.

There are twelve verses, each describing a gift given by “my true love” on one of the twelve days of Christmas.

The jug motif builds on the first verse, where “my true love” is a partridge in a pear tree. The other eleven gifts were hung on the branches of the pear tree as “Christmas ornaments”.

The motif is framed by Christmas ornaments made of holly branches. Roman numerals from one to twelve (I to XII) were also integrated in gold painting in the lower relief band.

An ornamented lid made from real pewter crowns this beautiful jug.
