This proud hunter’s jug does not have an inset, glazed base. It is probably a prototype that was made in the Westerwald around 1970-1980.

At this time, handles with stylized squirrels were very popular for hunting jugs, so this jug also has a squirrel handle.

The jug front shows a stag, wild boar and a hunting dog.

On the left is a hunter with a shot pheasant, the hunter on the right is still stalking.
