Product information “Royal jug, 3/4 liter, cobalt, painted, with crown tin lid, Thewalt 1893”

This jug is a replica of an original from the Middle Ages, which was dedicated to Emperor Charles V. The “C” stands for “Carolus” and “K” for Emperor. On September 15, 1556, Emperor Charles stepped down from the throne and divided his inheritance between his son Philip II and his brother Ferdinand I. Emperor Charles V is flanked by knights on the tankard. His son Philip II is shown to the left of the handle and his brother Ferdinand I opposite. All three emperors are wearing crowns. Charles V was the emperor of a mighty empire in which “the sun never set”. His empire extended over almost all of Central Europe (Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Italy). In addition, Mexico and Peru were conquered by Hernan Cortes and Francisco Pizarro during his era. Charlemagne’s main aim was to spread Christianity throughout his empire. The original model was modeled by one of the best and most famous modelers the Westerwald ever had: Peter Dümler (1860-1907) tirelessly devoted most of his life to modeling jugs. Each jug is made by hand using traditional methods and elaborately painted by hand. Limited edition of 2,500 pieces worldwide. Each jug is individually and consecutively numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Height: 29 cm Capacity: 3/4 liter
