Product information “Father Rhine jug 1/2 l, cobalt, hand-painted with pewter lid”

The Rhine has always been much more than just another river for the Germans.

In addition to many stories and myths, it has served as an important transportation route for more than 2,000 years.

It brought economic growth and prosperity to the surrounding lands. Many castles and palaces along the Rhine still bear witness to the important role that the Rhine played in the Middle Ages.

This is also documented on this fully embossed and hand-painted jug:

A proud knight on horseback is one of the front motifs of this beautiful tankard. To the right and left of the rider are the heraldic animals of Bavaria (lion) and Prussia (eagle), which were united by the Rhine at the time.

Famous places and sights along the Rhine are also highlighted in relief and hand-painted:

Motifs of Sankt Goar, the Loreley, Rüdesheim and Cologne, as well as the Drachenfals, Stahleck Castle and Bacharach adorn this jug.

The pewter lid made from real pewter completes this jug.
