Limit 2019 Falconry, painted

Modeled around 1895 by an unknown modeler, this jug depicts the falcon hunt from a painting by Hans Markart. In 1879, Hans Markart designed and organized a triumphal procession to celebrate the silver wedding anniversary of the Austrian imperial couple Franz Joseph I and his wife Elisabeth of Bavaria. Pairs of riders with falcons also took part in this triumphal procession. He depicted this triumphal procession in several paintings. One such pair of riders is depicted in the center of the jug. The jug is crowned by a pure pewter facet lid. Capacity: 2 liters Height: approx. 38 cm
