Product information “30 Years of German Unity 0.75 l cobalt painted”
Thirty years ago – after the Wall came down – the former East and West Germany became one Germany again
The united Federal Republic of Germany
Reunification was a political development in 1990, the end of which is officially known as German reunification and is celebrated every year on the third of October.
With the removal of the border fence between Hungary and Austria and the resulting loophole in the “Iron Curtain”, the fall of the East German government began in 1989. This opening of the border made it possible for GDR citizens to flee from Hungary via Austria to West Germany.
At the same time, the citizens of the GDR summoned up all their courage to demonstrate in the streets – without knowing how the authoritarian, socialist government would react.
Every Monday evening they gathered in the city centers and sent a clear message to their government by chanting “We are one people”.
The crowds grew every week and with them the call for unity and freedom became louder and louder.
In honor of the thousands of Germans who tirelessly took to the streets every Monday, King-Werk, Würfel & Müller immortalized this call for unity on a jug.
On the opposite side of the call “We are one people”, a banner with the words “Germany, united fatherland” was sculpted onto the jug.
The main motif shows a map of the new Germany with the old border, the so-called “death strip”:
The German eagle – the symbol of strength and stability – was placed in relief in the center of the jug, as these two characteristics helped to reunite Germany.
The oak motif tendrils symbolize pride, strength, loyalty, determination and continuity.
The coats of arms of the individual federal states have been arbitrarily placed on the map. They are intended to indicate that there are individual federal states, but at the same time it makes no difference whether it is an “old” or a “new” federal state.
In gratitude for the uninterrupted support of the United States of America, the text “Wiedervereinigung” (Reunification) was also printed on the jug in English.
Another highlight is the pewter lid of this valuable collector’s jug, as it symbolizes the fall of the Iron Curtain and the reunification of Germany:
